Rogersville Tennessee

Bridgeport Bay Entrance
Located approximately eight miles south of downtown Rogersville Tennessee, Bridgeport Bay offers paved and curbed streets, underground utilities, municipal water and natural gas. What is so unusual about these amenities? After all, many developments offer these features!

Cherokee Lake
Bridgeport Bay also affers beautiful views of the surrounding foothills and boatable waters leading to a lake approximately 59 miles in length in addition to the amenities mentioned above. Mere seconds from your driveway to State Highway 11W, Bridgeport Bay offers easy access north to Bristol, and south to Knoxville Tennessee, without the long, twisting, two lane roads that are common in more remote developments.

Activities at Bridgeport Bay

Bridgeport Church
The original community of Bridgeport was located downstream, just around the bend of Clouds Creek, along the banks of the Holston River. This community was flooded in approximately 1941, with the completion of the Cherokee Lake Dam. During the winter months, when the water levels are at their lowest, some of the building foundations are still visible. The above is a scanned photograph of the Bridgeport Church.

Cherokee Indian Territory
Above, is a scan of a page from an old book. Indeed, some of the maps of this area show the boundaries for this Cherokee Indian Territory. Although the historical marker is no longer present, the present Bridgeport Bay is located toward the upper right hand side of this scan.
